Employment at Levey



Levey Day School seeks a 3/4 time (.75 FTE) upper school (formerly known as ‘middle school’) homeroom advisor/math/science teacher to lead its inaugural middle school program (grades 5-7, followed by grade 8 in 2021-22).  Responsibilities will include teaching in the middle school, advising in middle school, and overseeing co-curricular activities.  A strong sense of initiative and the willingness to serve as an integral part of building a new program is essential.  The Upper School focus will be on STEM and service learning. This position begins July 1, and teaching duties begin in September. 


Candidates should have a strong background in education, particularly math/science education, a commitment to and understanding of middle school-aged students in and out of the classroom, the ability to utilize technology to enhance student learning, and the drive to engage in ongoing professional development.    This position involves creating and implementing meaningful math and science (STEM) learning experiences for students that emphasize collaboration, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and relationship building.  


A bachelor’s degree is required. An interest in curriculum development, at least three years of teaching experience, and a master’s degree are preferred. Experience with Responsive Classroom is recommended.

Levey is looking for experienced teachers to come onto campus when necessary to fill in for a teacher in her/his classroom.  Often called substitutes, Levey uses the term "guest teacher".  Guest teaching positions are available in general education and Hebrew Language.
